Judith Kemp, an unattached mother, has her hands full with two children and a job as a star lawyer in a legal firm. Forced to divide her time between job and family, everyone comes up short: the children Julia and Marco, her doctor friend Susanne Blau, and her boss Stephan Walther, who demands more attention from Judith than just her working hours. Her code of moral decency is challenged when she meets little Eva Traber, whose father has run off and whose mother can barely make ends meet. While fighting for the rights of Eva and her siblings, Judith manages to right some of the wrongs in her own private life.
