The Trotzkis (1994)

This family is constantly hatching plans that will make them rich and happy, but even when good fortune appears about to fall into their laps the Trotzkis always mess things up - because they simply can’t come to terms with the new age.
“The Trotzkis”, a family from Leipzig, are confronted with politicians, loan sharks, con-artists and dubious relatives, against the background of confusing transformations that characterise the modern period. They keep on getting into serious difficulties - but then they bounce back, as if obeying the eternal law that the revenge of the little man is sweet. The individual members of the Trotzki family are Herbert, the boss, who drives a taxi; Rosa, the mother who keeps the family together; daughter Margot, the blonde bombshell from Leipzig who shares her mother’s love for all the blessings of the West; and son Benno, plump, good-natured and virtually impossible to move. Actually, it’s a miracle the four of them live under the same roof and get on with each other without suffering serious harm in the process.
