The fifth episode in the successful series about Dr. Johanna Lohmann.
Little Bastian Schindler has been an orphan since his grandpa died, with whom he lived alone on their farm. On his deathbed, old Schindler asked charismatic country doctor Johanna Lohmann to look after the boy so he doesn't wind up in an orphanage. So she takes him in for lack of a better solution. Thanks to her son Max, the shy Bastian begins to come out of his shell again. Her fiancé Laurenz Hofer isn't happy about the arrangement, however, since he was planning to marry and settle down with her and raise a family of their own. It soon turns out they never spoke about their plans together, and have some sorting-out to do. All in a fuss about the upcoming wedding, Johanna's aunt Marie and her suitor Fritz get bitten by the bug: The perfectly polished gentleman, Fritz proposes to Marie in a way she just can't refuse. Is a double wedding in store…? But the young people aren't as lucky: When Johanna and Laurenz have an argument over what is to become of Bastian, the young boy overhears them and runs away. Laurenz crashes his car and is hospitalized, and Johanna postpones the wedding…
