East Germany in the early fifties – a young republic makes an example: Kurt König is accused of treason and is sentenced to death by guillotine. This tragic death sentence will determine the fate of many other families – amongst them the Staudte family. This film tells the story of Rosel Staudte who ends up in the tentacles of the Stasi after her husband is accused of connivance with Kurt König.
