The long conversation with the bird (1991)

Fourteen- year-old Laura has fallen desperately in love with John Barth, an English actor. Barth, bored by both his private and professional life, is amused and flattered by this notion and so despite a 26-year age gap, invites young Laura to join him on his trip to Thailand. Against her better judgment, Elizabeth, Laura's mother, allows Laura to accompany Barth on his excursion, with the stipulation that she too will travel to Thailand with them. In this wild setting, relationships sour. Elisabeth, who is not getting along with her daughter, finds herself attracted to Barth, while Laura tells Barth that she wants to become his lover. He resists this proposition because of her age. The next day Laura vanishes.
