Berlin 1989. The Berlin Wall is falling. The balance of power is changing rapidly. But nobody yet knows whether the revolution will be achieved peacefully. The Kupfer family is also affected by these events. Falk Kupfer is one of the officers in the East German Ministry for State Security who is willing to do anything to preserve the power of the Socialist Party, while his father Hans is intent on preventing further escalation.
With the help of a journalist from West Germany, Martin Kupfer is trying to get back his daughter Anna. And meanwhile Dunja Haußmann and Vera Kupfer are supporters of the civil rights movement, hoping to bring democratic changes to the country. But the dark secrets of the past soon catch up with them…
