Ottilie Giesecke, a young woman from the big city whose emotional life is in permanent turmoil, lets her father persuade her to accompany him to the fairy-tale Alpine resort of Lake Wolfgang, so they can (illegally) scatter her mother's ashes there. When they arrive at the White Horse Inn it becomes apparent that this is far more than a picturesque holiday resort: it's a parallel universe where the sun is always shining, people sing about every emotion they experience, and men feel obliged to propose marriage at the drop of a hat. In fact, it's the last refuge of true love… as long as you can sing. Ottilie gives the head waiter Leopold a crash course in how to win the heart of the landlady, and in a grand finale she and her new friends rescue the White Horse Inn from being demolished. What's more, in the end Ottilie discovers that she can sing, too…
