Der Winzerkrieg (2010)

Winemaker Franziska Habicht is proud of herself: Two years after her husband’s death the family-owned winery makes profits again. Her new Bio-Riesling called “Welschriesling” has won the “Wine of the Year” award. That means she will win long-term contracts with international buyers and her son David is going to continue his father’s life-work and will take over the wine-estate. When Franziska’s neighbor, winemaker Josef Fink makes a generous offer to buy her winery she rejects the offer and is outraged. However, Josef Fink does not give up. As a large quantity producer the price dumping strategies of many wine discounters have put him under pressure. Increasing his available arable land is the only way to save his business. Fate seems to favor Josef Fink: An old document from the 17th century turns up. The document claims that the Habicht Winery has been in possession of the Fink family since 1602. While Fink is rejoicing, Franziska becomes angry: Where does this document come from? Is it a forgery? Over her dead body will she let Fink have her winery!
The war of the winegrowers has begun. Franziska is determined to fight this attempt of a take-over by all means. Also, she wonders on which site her son David is. After all he is going out with Fink’s daughter Maria…
