Renowned psychotherapist Dr. Julia Wagner practices at an international private clinic in Bangkok. She is contemplating to lay low for awhile to write another book when she receives a call for help from the Bangkok police commissioner Lin Thanapat. He asks her to come as quickly as possible to the remote village of Chantaburi located at the Golf of Thailand. A child approximately eight-years old has been found feral and half starved to death at the edge of the rain forest. She was accompanied by her dog “Zippo”. The child’s body is riddled with scars. She does not talk, is scared and agitated. With great patience and psychological finesse Dr. Julia Wagner manages to slowly win the traumatized girls trust. Dr. Max Carrasin, chief physician of the hospital in Chantaburri observes with great respect the sensible approach and never ending display of patience the psychotherapist shows. In long conversations the girl and the therapist slowly get to know each other. Just as Julia has managed to help Alice, as she started to call the girl, to enjoy live again Alice’s father Henry Thomas sends word. Henry Thomas had been accused of murdering his wife and his daughter and spent three month in investigative custody. He was let out of prison because of lack of evidence and nobody knows what happened on the night of the alleged murders. Julia only sees one way to find out the truth and she accompanies Alice and Zippo deep into the rainforest to a place where Alice must have experienced one very traumatic event…
