The Romantic Novelist (2001)

A HEART IN FLAMES is the first TV movies in a new series called STAR SIGNS produced by ZIEGLER FILM GmbH & Co. KG for ARD/DEGETO. The TV movies are romantic or sophisticated comedies, inspired by the different star signs. Winfried Noe, the famous astrologist works as a consultant on the entire collection.

Beate and Frank, brought together by their common love for romantic love stories. When Beate's purse is stolen in front of her most favourite paper shop, Frank turns into a hero. The two are immediately attracted to each other and cannot believe their luck. Unfortunately, Frank makes two mistakes. First of all he is hours late on their first rendezvous. And while waiting for him, Beate has to learn that Frank is already married. This is a lie Frank regularly uses, as he feels embarrassed to buy romantic novels for himself, so he pretends he purchases them for his wife. When Beate learns about Frank's wife, she is devastated and decides never to fall in love again. By accident Beate and Frank meet again seven years later. Beate is now a successful and tough journalist writing for an economy magazine. Frank now very successfully writes love-stories under his pseudonym Ms. Goldmesser. No one knows that Ms. Goldmesser is actually male, as the author never grants any interviews.
Beate though has just recently made contact with the famous author and therefore creates an uncomfortable situation for Frank and his publisher. Frank - who never knew why Beate terminated their relationship - again starts to entangle himself in a net of lies. But this time amour will finally hit target.
