Half-asian Rita leaves her provincial town seeing the seeds of future trouble to come, having discovered that her mother was swindling to her concerning her presumed daddy. In Berlin she meets her sensuous stepfather whose lasciviously watching mistress sitting in a wheelchair and her well-rounded stepsister Carmen who constantly breaks out into whimsically singing. She smells the sloppy and beautiful atmosphere at the "COCONUT - dancing band", she applies for a newspaper-job and is hunting - together with the others - after an unpublished Chopin composition, allegedly discovered by the pianist of the band. At the end, the mother from the provincial town joins the gang. Even without Chopin, there is joy, turbulence and fun.
