After her divorce there is only one thing Bettina Finke (Julia Jäger) wants: to travel to Italy, visit her best friend and have a real holiday with her, taking along the children Tom (Paul Metzger) and Lisa (Karla Leipold). But first she decides to visit her great-uncle in Bavaria. She hasn't been back to his idyllic farm since she was a little girl. Much to the disappointment of her mother, who feels it would make more sense for Bettina to start looking for a job, she sets off with the children... and a rise in Bavaria just in time for the funeral of Uncle Gustav. When the executor of Gustav’s estate Dr. Steinbach (Paul Faßnacht) reveals that the farm belongs to her out, Bettina is stunned – while Karl (Peter Mitterrutzner), Uncle Gustav’s old friend and estate manager, is visibly delighted, since this allows him to hope that the film will not be sold after all to the shady estate agent (Florian Fitz) who plans to build a car showroom by. Of course Bettina would like to keep the farm, but it is clear that the old property is very dilapidated. And when the barn burns down after being set on fire deliberately, she is finally ready to sell. But then Martin (Sascha Hehn) appears; Bettina was secretly in love with him when she was a teenager. He now runs a petrol station and proceeds to rescue the barn, also managing to make Bettina forget all about her old big-city life...
