Planned Children an Other Coincidences

2002

“Planned Children and other Coincidences”
A film version of the successful novel by Maria Herder for the series “All the Great Women”
Filming has now begun in and around Berlin for the lively family comedy “Planned Children and other Coincidences”, commissioned by the Channel One. This time four fine women are taking the leading roles: Ruth Maria Kubitschek (“Our Papa, the Genius “, “The Mystery of Midsummer’s Night”), Susanna Simon (“the Publisher”, “Anniversaries”), Tina Ruland (“Prosecco Drinking Women”, “Rivals for Love”) and Marita Marschall (“The Examination”, “Utta Danella – The Black Mirror”). Shooting is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2002.

Hildegard Reimund (Ruth Maria Kubitschek) has three grown-up daughters and would like nothing more than some grandchildren to make the house feel alive once again. Consequently, on her 60th birthday, she comes up with a very unusual idea: she will give her beautiful villa to whichever of her daughters first has a child. Her daughters are all indignant at this crazy idea, for they have quite different plans: Susanne (Susanna Simon), the youngest, is a midwife who concentrates entirely on her profession - especially since her experiences with men so far have been far from satisfactory. Anja (Tina Ruland), who goes through life like a whirlwind, is planning to emigrate to Brazil with her new girlfriend Karin (Gesine Cukrowski). And the eldest daughter, Regina (Marita Marschall) and her husband Robert (Michael Roll) enjoy a life of luxury punctuated by sushi and designer clothes. Consequently the three sisters resolve that none of them will get pregnant. But things don’t quite turn out that way: Susanne falls in love with Frank (Oliver Bootz), Anja and her girlfriend Karin have such a huge argument that Anja ends up in the arms of her sensitive next-door neighbour Sebastian (Oliver Clemens) - and Robert discovers that one of his big stock market deals has gone terribly wrong, so the villa would come in very handy to service his debts. Suddenly all three sisters are, despite their initial reactions, involved in a furious competition...
