There has been a murder in the idyllic city of Freiberg . The investigation quickly reveals a number of possible suspects, because the dead man, a car thief called Steffen Kemper, has a long police record. His body was discovered in a car park; he had been shot. Was Kemper eliminated by a rival, or did the owner of a car he was trying to steal resort to self defense? When Inspector Ehrlicher discovers during the course of his enquiries that Kemper was also involved in a protection racket, this leads him to the bar run by his own son. And suddenly Ehrlicher finds himself under pressure - because there are a number of factors which indicate his son may have known the murderer. Ehrlicher desperately searches for evidence which would exonerate his son...
