The pupils of Grade 6b are cross. They have, all the while been intending to compose a pop song under the guidance of music teacher, Willi Bolbrinker, in the hope of a premiere in the coming class party.
But, suddenly, the instruments which have been loaned to them are to be returned. And the school director, not wanting to strain the present budget, refuses to requisition replacements for these and the sound equipment. For him, the installation of his dream computer class worth DM 50,000.-- is top priority!
Willi can empathize with his pupils' exasperation. He scents the ultimate chance in the director's wife: she is, after all those years, still crazy about the pop hits of the 50s. Willi Bolbrinker thinks that if she could be convinced of the need for popular music education, she'd take care of her hubby herself. So, Willi writes a pop song for her entitled "Shubidoo" and invites both the director and his wife to dinner. In the meantime, as luck would put it, the pupil's survey has established that the director has, quite unashamedly, scooped out 10% of the DM 50,000.-- into his own bank account. On the much - awaited day, a bum lets off the lid - everybody: the director, the teacher and, to a certain extent, even the pupils. But they had it made! Their commitment to their music prevails. They succeed in calling for the party where everybody just goes bananas.
