Murder on board
2002

The inconspicuous Burkharda Meier (Barbara Wussow) dreams of becoming a famous singer. So she answers an ad seeking a singer-soloist on a luxury liner. At the try-out, however, Burkharda flunks the test in grand style. But thanks to a mistake in similar names, she nevertheless comes on board the MS Olympia Voyager - as Nancy Meyer and against the will of her sceptical husband (Frank Röth). After a terrible performance, she succeeds with her charm and some tricks to conquer the hearts of the passengers – albeit with the help of the on-board pianist Hartwin (Stefan Jürgens). The young man, fascinated by “Nancy’s” courage and will to success, falls in love with her. But Burkharda hardly pays attention to him. She would give in to the advances of the clever entertainment manager Fred Hahn (Axel Pape) and falls in love with him. Her happiness would be complete, were it not for the fact that a do-gooder threatens to uncover her true identity, to say nothing of an evil-minded blackmailer and an incorrigible “skirt-chaser”. It’s a long way to a happy end for Burkharda – the route leads over corpses, takes her past eccentric widows, and has more than its share of heart aches …
Also on board: Antje von der Ahe as Burkharda’s friend Elke, Annekatrin Bürger and Carl Heinz Choynski as the Zopf couple, Edith Hancke and Klaus Sonnenschein as the Edel couple. In a guest role: Hera Lind, the authoress of the novel.
