Fashion designer Alexandra Meyberg (Christiane Hörbiger), an attractive older woman who is already married, falls in love with up-and-coming young pianist Stefan Weber (Francis Fulton Smith) and helps him with his career. Meanwhile her company descends into chaos.
Everybody around her responds with incomprehension and rejection. Her husband Helmut (Dietrich Mattausch) is the only one who refrains from condemning her. And in the end, because some things are simply impossible, Alexandra puts and end to the affair. And before long Stefan loses his life in a car accident.
A bitter-sweet story set in the world of high fashion.
