Hengstparade
2004
In the picturesque Austrian region of Mühlviertel shooting has now begun on the film version of Gaby Hauptmann’s latest best-selling novel "Hengstparade". Among the sweet-smelling hay and magnificent horses the cast are at the ready; the production features Christiane Hörbiger ("Alpenglühen"), Michael Mendl ("Im Schatten der Macht"), Eva Herzig ("Die Pferdefrau") and Michael Roll ("Zwei Männer and ein Baby"), as well as Siemen Rühaak ("Die Kommissarin").

Karin (Eva Herzig) has fallen head over heels in love and is convinced she has found Mr Right. But she can't help feeling uneasy when her new boyfriend, the doctor Harry Brenndorfer (Michael Roll), sets off for a week’s riding holiday at Mühldorf Castle. There's only one thing for it: Karin's mother Hella (Christiane Hörbiger) will have to take a room at the Castle as well, to keep an eye on the passionate horseman.
Almost as soon as Hella arrives she spots Harry about to go off riding with the attractive Sabine (Katja Studt). Since she can't ride, the resolute lady follows the two of them in a horse-drawn carriage. However, during this high-speed chase the carriage overturns; Hella is thrown out and rendered unconscious. Fortunately, Kurt Schleyer (Michael Mendl) soon appears and provides first aid. Hella would have to admit that she enjoys the care and attention of this good-looking man. But when Kurt takes her back to the castle they find everybody in an uproar: a horse that was ridden by Marga Lex (Daniela Ziegler) has returned alone, and before long Marga is found in the forest, dead. Kurt is deeply shaken: he and Marga used to be married, and even after they separated the two were on very friendly terms. It all looks like a tragic riding accident... but soon Hella finds some indications of foul play and begins to investigate as surreptitiously as possible. Unfortunately, the finger of suspicion points at Kurt, among others. And now the comedy thriller takes its course: Hella enters a second summer in her life, and with the help of her daughter Karin - who has turned up to lend her mother support - she manages to uncover the true culprit. And when Hella assures her daughter that Harry is in fact beyond all suspicion, there seems to be no obstacle to the happiness of these two loving couples...
