Franziska Kemper is a pastor, and she has her own highly individual concept of her vocation. Her services, as well as her personal commitment to the pastoral care of her parishioners, are extremely unconventional.
Unfortunately, all this places too much strain on her marriage, and her husband Christoph leaves her. But Franziska isn't the sort of person who takes things lying down, and on the spur of the moment she follows Christoph to Lübeck, taking the children with her. However, the second chance she had hoped for isn't forthcoming. She hadn't realised just how serious the relationship is between Christoph and his new girlfriend Andrea. In fact they are expecting a baby, but the situation is too much for Christoph, who is unable to explain this to Franziska. It isn't until Franziska is summoned to hospital, to the bedside of a dying woman – Andrea's mother – that she discovers the whole truth…
Franziska now loses control completely, in her personal and her professional life. But a motorbike accident finally forces her to accept what really matters in life…
