Die Wolves
2007
In three 90-minute episodes director Friedemann Fromm tells the story (written by Christoph and Friedemann Fromm) of a group of young people in Berlin during the immediate post-war period who proceed to grow apart and then find their lives are again intertwined when the Berlin Wall is built in 1961 -- and once more, when it collapses in the year 1989.

The films have been developed as a mixture between a family saga and historic document, including scenic and documentary elements against real, historical backgrounds. The dramatic scenes feature a top-quality cast including Barbara Auer, Axel Prahl, Felix Vörtler, Matthias Brandt, Annett Renneberg, Stefanie Stappenbeck and Florian David Fitz.
Kurt, Lotte, Jakob, Silke and Bernd experience together everyday life in the Berlin just after the Second World War, surrounded by bomb si and blackmarketeers, rival gangs of youths and young love. In 1961, when the stream of refugees to the West increases, they attempt to maintain their friendship - but the aspects of their characters which differentiate them as individuals become increasingly apparent, and the members of the gang lose track of one another. At New Year 1989, when the Berlin Wall has fallen, they suddenly find themselves reunited at a wedding... and the shadows of their past catch up with them.
