The Country Doctor – a Matter of Life and Death

Dr. Johanna Lohmann (Christine Neubauer) still feels unable to embark upon a new relationship with the attractive Daniel Winterberg (Sven Martinek), but the two of them do spend a lot of time together. When they go walking in the mountains they get caught up in a landslide, and Daniel injures his shoulder. The landslide was caused by a nearby explosion - which nobody can explain. While Johanna is caring for her patient, Ines Meissner (Tina Bordihn), who visiting Daniel, suddenly turns up. Ines, a former colleague of Daniel’s, is jealous when she observes the intimacy between him and the doctor. A passionate photographer, she is fascinated by the imposing Alpine landscape - to the extent that she ventures too far out on an outcrop of rock and falls. The mountain rescue services are soon on the spot and find the unconscious Ines, but by now Johanna has discovered that Ines might have something to do with the illegal explosions. Meanwhile, a family drama begins to unfold at the Bergmeier Farm. Leo Bergmeier (August Schmölzer) is finding it hard to cope with the sudden death of his wife in an accident. In the heat of argument he blames his son-in-law Gerhard Straußberger (Gregor Bloéb) for the accident and throws him out. In a state of complete despair, Leo’s daughter Verena (Judith Richter) begs Johanna for help.
