Silvia Kaltenbach (Désirée Nosbusch), single mother of the 11-year-old Marc (Samuel Maxim Benke), is just about to get married to Rolf (Ralph Herforth). However, after years of silence, Marc’s father Ricardo (Gedeon Burkhard) chooses this moment to appear. He is the wealthy son of a South American businessman who abandoned Silvia when he discovered that she was pregnant. While her son Marc is very taken with the athletic Ricardo, who she introduces as an old friend, Silvia herself remains sceptical about his sudden paternal interest. But before long Ricardo has not only enthralled Marc with his spontaneity and lust for life but also managed to awaken in Silvia poignant memories of her great love...
