"They play with Billions" tells of the rise and fall of the young and ambitious Gerd Asselt of the 1980's in West Germany. Through his friend and father- surrogate Steinberger, he builds a considerate corporate empire by way of company take- overs and buy- outs. With the help of potent capitalist Maybach, he even eventually gets accepted into the circle of conservative bankers.
But the big crash has become inevitable. And when the last big deal goes down the drain, Asselt's, his wife Larissa's and Steinberger's last resort was to flee. Maybach lands in prison.
