CLUB OF DREAMS is a story of people who spend their vacation in a beautiful resort near Marmaris on a cliff overlooking the splendid sea and islands – just as you would imagine the Aegean Sea.
A small group of tourists lands with a seaplane on crystal-clear water and receive a warm welcome from the German club manager and his Turkish colleagues.
The guests are: the Schmidtbauer family, consisting of Bernd (48), a chocolate manufacturer, his wife Lena (43), and their daughter Cosima (22); plus Ernst Kowalski (55), a driving instructor from Remscheid; and Adlaya (48), who just loves to travel.
Bernd and Lena will complete their vacation - after a turbulent, romantic and intense stay at the resort on Cleopatra Island and at Ephesus – in Istanbul, where they have been invited by their daughter’s future Turkish father-in-law.
At Hannes and Yale’s water-ski school, Cosima meets Mehmet, Yale’s brother. She falls in love with him and they spend an exciting interlude in Marmaris. Mehmet shows Cosima his future restaurant, located idyllically on a river below the rock-tombs. At the end of the story, Cosima will ask her parents to stay in Turkey longer.
Kowalski is not into beach and sports. He is interested in ancient history and the incomparable treasure trove of the Orient: Turkish mosques, colourful bazars and cultural diversity. On his excursions he is accompanied by Adlaya, a world traveller from the hippy-generation. She always returns to Marmaris because she loves the Turkish hospitality. She persuades Kowalski to accompany her on a bus trip into the countryside to visit a Turkish family, where they enjoy traditional Turkish food and drinks.
Jan, the resort manager, not only supports his crew whenever they need consolation and help, but he also brings quarrelling lovers back together again, picks up guests at night at the bus-stop and organizes excursions to Ephesus. His resort is very international and popular even among the Turkish tourists. Here the Schmidtbauer family meets Özal, the father of Mehmet and Yale.
