Beckmann & Markowski - Fatal Web
This detective story is set in modern Berlin and tells the tale of Max Beckmann, an old-fashioned CID officer who, as a result of becoming involved in a series of mysterious murders, is confronted with the world of computer technology which has always been alien to him. Torn between failure to comprehend and fascination, he attempts to catch a murderer who appears to have no face. Beckmann stumbles across a group of young computer hackers who have infiltrated an illegal, worldwide network of arms smuggling.
When two of the kids die in mysterious circumstances the remaining members of the group approach Beckmann and ask for his assistance in the battle against the invisible crime syndicate. The case gets even more complicated when government offices become involved. The story comes to a showdown which involves computer against computer, user against user, but in the end it is Beckmann and the computer kids who manage to install a computer virus that helps them bring the criminals to justice.
