Chief Inspector Beckmann finds himself involved in an extremely tricky case when a woman claims that she witnessed him committing murder and robbery. What initially appears to be an absurd allegation based on a misunderstanding soon develops into a serious suspicion. It’s not only that Beckmann has no alibi; on top of that, the evidence begins to pile up – to the extent that the incredible seems possible.
The public prosecutor begins to investigate, and even Beckmann’s friend and colleague Markowski finds it difficult to protect him. When it also emerges that Beckmann has high debts, his friend finds that hard to believe in his innocence.
