The magnificent Christmas story “Nothing but Samba”, which is at present being filmed in Berlin, revolves around a well-known art experts and her Brazilian godchild. Gudrun Landgrebe and Günther Maria Halmer have already worked together in both “Heart or Cash” and “The House of the Sisters”. The other leading roles are taken by Ulrich Mühe (“Schtonk!”, “Goebbels and Patient”), Inge Keller (“Aimée and Jaguar”, “Lola + Bilidikid”) and 11-year-old Amy Mußul, and Eberhard Geick is the cameraman. The script has been written by Gabrielle Pfeiffer and Bernd Böhlich (“The Publisher”, “Storm Time”), who is also directing the production. Filming is scheduled to be completed by the middle of December 2002.

Katarina Diezmann (Gudrun Landgrebe) is generally happy with life. The well-known art expert has a senior position with the auctioneers Wegener. She finds her profession entirely fulfilling - and, in her view, it is the perfect substitute for a relationship. However, the tranquillity of her life is ruined forever one day when a little Brazilian girl appears at her apartment door and greets her cheerfully as Aunt Katarina. The temperamental child is accompanied by Claudio Bachmann (Günther Maria Halmer), head of the German-Brazilian Cultural Centre in Berlin. It soon emerges that Marcia (Amy Mußul) is an orphan who grew up in a Brazilian orphanage run by German nuns. Years ago Katarina accepted the position of godmother to the child - and now the little girl’s dream has finally come true; there is a Brazilian cultural festival in Berlin, and she and her Samba troupe have accepted the invitation of the Cultural Centre to spend Christmas here. In fact, there are two things Marcia yearns for: to spend Christmas with her aunt, and to see real snow. The problem is that there is no place for a child in the well-organised life of this career woman. In a couple of days she has an urgent business meeting in Madrid, and she is supposed to travel there with Gerd (Ulrich Mühe), the boss’s nephew. But when Katarina tries to take Marcia back to Claudio the following morning, the little girl won’t let go of her - and Marcia’s sad eyes touch Katarina’s heart...
