It is two years ago since the German Dr Katrin Berger met up again with the love of her life Max and married him in Munich. Their dream of living together in Africa, while Max and his friend Sam had built up a bush Hospital, was however shattered by the tragic death of Max in the accident. His children from his first marriage, Lindiwe and Neo, were orphaned. Since Katrin realised how much they needed her, and how urgently this country needed medical aid, she decided to stay in Africa and bring up the children together with Sam. Katrin and Sam then began to feel are strongly attracted to one another, add up to now Sam has found it difficult to sure how openly how he feels about her. Now he reveals to the children that he finally intends to propose to her. Neo and Lindiwe are delighted: now they are going to be a real family again. Meanwhile, when Katrin goes to visit Max's grave she is shocked to find herself facing a man who looks just like her dead husband. He introduces himself as Stefan, the twin brother of the dead Max, and tells her that he is at present in Namibia working on an aid project. When Max were still alive the brothers were estranged. Later, when Sam discovers Katrin and Stefan in a rather intimate conversation, he openly displays his dislike of Max's twin brother -- and the two children are not exactly keen on him either.
A short time afterwards Stefan suggests to Katrin that she and the children should return to Germany with him; he claims that Sam has prevented him from having any contact with them. Disappointed by Sam's behaviour, Katrin sits down to talk things out with him -- and he insists that Stefen is lying to her. But she finds it impossible to believe that.
For some time now in this district of the country valuable plants have been dug up and stolen: they are of great importance in the pharmaceutical industry. When Sam catches little Elias stealing hoodia blossoms, he can't believe that this is the real thief. But then, when little Elias suddenly vanishes, Katrin developes a terrible suspicion. And there is not much time to rescue the boy …
