2030 - Exploiting the Grandchildren

2009

How much longer will our society be able to cope with the problem of extreme ageing, and what price will the younger generation have to pay in this scenario?
"2030 – Exploiting the Grandchildren" tells the story of young protagonists who, against the background of a constantly deepening chasm between rich and poor, attempt to avoid personal catastrophes.
In this story too the journalist Lena Bach, played by Bettina Zimmermann, is at the centre of events. She becomes interested in the case of a certain Tim Burdenski (Barnaby Metschurat), who has become known since featuring in a television documentary. Burdenski collapsed at the Gendarmenmarkt in central Berlin and died in one of the city's hospitals. In the course of her research Lena meets up with Tim’s old friend Sophie (Lavinia Wilson), who has serious doubts about his death, and the two of them join forces in their search for the truth. This brings them up against a mysterious labyrinth of deception and concealment, and they finally submerge themselves in a parallel society where the victims of second-class medical care have taken the law into their own hands to obtain their rights. In the end they succeed in finding the key which solves the puzzle. Lena tracks down Tim’s wife Paula (Kathrin von Steinburg) and uncovers an incredible scandal.
