Background
Of the eight film schools and academies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that compete annually for purses and honors at a score of festivals, the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB) takes justified pride in its rank and file of graduates over the past four decades. A charter member of the first DFFB class in 1966, LA-based Wolfgang Petersen directed one of this season’s bonanza box office hits: The Perfect Storm. As for Eoin (pronounced “Owen”) Moore, his diploma film plus-minus null (Break Even) (1998), shot on video and transferred to film, was invited to compete at San Sebastian, played Rotterdam and San Francisco, and is still being booked on the festival circuit.
A jack-of-all-trades, Eoin Moore writes, directs, photographs, and edits his films - in short, he is a hands-on director who prefers to be in full control of production from start to finish. Following the success of plus-minus null, he returned to his native Ireland to shoot Conamara (2000) on the rocky, wind-swept West Coast. “We had a few scary moments when a storm blew up on open sea,” he recalls. “But the shooting was wrapped in time - and we got that feel we wanted of documentary realism.”
For that matter, Why Don’t We Do It in the Road? - Eoin Moore’s Erotic Tale - leans heavily of documentary realism to make its point. Shot on Potsdamer Platz, the busiest corner in New Berlin, this is where a young couple decide to exercise their sexual fantasies by “doing it” again on some public place just beyond the pale of voyeurs and eavesdroppers. Look closely, and you will note that this is also the site of the Filmhaus and DFFB’s new location in the Sony Centre. Eoin’s own backyard.

Synopsis
"Verkehrsinsel" - as in "Traffic Island" - as in "Middle of the Road" - as in "Why Don't We Do It in the Road". Anyway, you get the idea. Eoin Moore's third film - after his "plus minus null", an award-winning debut feature produced at the Berlin Film Academy, followed by the critically acclaimed
"Conamara", shot on the west coast of Ireland - is set smack in the middle of the road on Potsdamer Platz, Berlin's heaviest tourist attraction and as close to Times Square as Germany will ever get. How they manage to "do it"
there is Zarah's idea, a postmodern creative artist, who likes doing it with Anton in the most quaint and daring of public places - right where and when the traffic is the heaviest. This time, to heighten the fun, Zarah hits upon
a special object of desire . . .

Eoin Moore (1968, Dublin) moved to Berlin in 1988 where he worked as sound man and freelance cameraman. He the studied at the Deutsche Film- & Fernsehakademie Berlin. Plus-Minus Null is his graduation film.
