In Search of an Impotant Man
2001
Gaby Hauptmann’s bestseller has been adapted to the movie screen.

British director John Henderson shot the movie in 36 days in English and German in Cologne, Düsseldorf and surroundings. Based on the bestseller with the same title published by Piper Verlag (Munich), the book has sold 1.5 million copies up to now. According to producer Regina Ziegler, “the film adaptation has the potential to reach an international market”. Shooting on this romantic comedy began on 13 December 2000. In addition to American actors Tim Williams and Gabriel Walsh, the film stars German actresses Katrin Weisser and Sandra Leonhard, while comedy stars Dirk Bach (“Lukas”), Wigald Boning (“RTL Samstag Nacht”), and screen-and TV personality Heiner Lauterbach make guest appearances. The film is produced by ZIEGLER FILM GmbH & Co. KG, in co-production with DEGETO/ARD under executive producer Wolfgang Hantke.
Synopsis: “Attractive woman at end of twenties seeks man for relaxing hours, adventure and friendship. He should be witty, intelligent and impotent”. So was worded Carmen’s contact advertisement given to a Cybercafé. She’s seeking a dream man to cuddle and love her, but one who knows where to keep his hands where they belong, and not just in bed. The ad draws a hefty response. When she finally finds the man for her among the candidates, she kind of wishes his impotence would vanish as quickly as a common cold.
