Ziegler Film (address in Berlin) has produced nearly 400 films, telefeatures, documentaries, and TV series since its founding in 1973. Of late, among these were such singularly successful films as “Am Ende der Eiszeit” (ARD), “2030 – Aufstand der Alten” (ZDF), and “Endlich Sex” (ProSieben). In 2006 alone, the company produced over 1500 televised minutes that were almost always programmed at prime time.
Film productions marked the beginning and constant focus of the company: “Korczak” (Cannes film festival), “A Year of the Quiet Sun” (Golden Lion, Venice), “Kamikaze 1989” (Venice 1982), “Fabian” (Oscar and Golden Globe Nominations), and the “Erotic Tales” (Oscar Nomination for “The Dutch Master”). Lately, such exceptional TV productions as “Der Verleger” and “Im Schatten der Macht” have merited particular attention and praise.
The company has been awarded several prizes – Golden Rose at Montreux, German Film Prize Golden Shell, Grimme Prize, etc. – for varied productions. In 2006, the achievements at Ziegler Film were honored with a special retrospective tribute at the Museum of Modern Art. Ziegler Film is always looking for new formats, such as the docu-fiction “2030 – Aufstand der Alten”. Developed together with ZDF, it’s set in the year 2030 and deals with a demographic change in Germany based on documented facts and prognoses.
Ziegler Film Cologne, in addition to its long-running hit series “Die Anrheiner” and the telefeature “Tollpension”, successfully entered the children’s film market with “Der zehnte Sommer”. The film “Das Lächeln der Tiefseefische” (Max Ophüls Prize) was presented at the 2005 Berlinale. In October 2006, the founding of Zieglerfilm München GmbH marked a further expansion of the company, one that guarantees Ziegler Film an important location for films and TV productions in addition to Berlin and Cologne. Altogether, 28 employees work under the aegis of Regina and Tanja Ziegler. With its three addresses – in Berlin, Cologne, and München – Ziegler Film ranks among the largest independent companies for film and television production in Germany.
The aim of Ziegler Film is to awaken the interest and attention of the audience with its productions, while addressing key audience groups as well as the broad public amid acute competition and demanding production procedures. Moreover, it aims to remain independent in the German as well as the international film-and-television market, while at the same time growing with the times and stimulating audiences with a profile of creativity and quality.
